You pull up from the bath but you just fall back and then you curl up your body for the fast collapse. The sun slides down and all the water birds flap until they land. The kids on the beach bury themselves deep under the sand. The trees still weep themselves to sleep like they always have. You see yourself reflected in the water and it tells you to play for the oldest offer. Your brother has a son and your friend just had a daughter. It's nice to think maybe this boat won't sink into the lake. There's time to waste and plenty of places with paths to pass. So take off your socks and walk the bottom, with the aches and pains of the back-breaking pace you're on- skipping rocks and drinking out of bottles. The window shrinks at the time spills ink over the page. When your story's told was your character both bold and brave? It's nice to think maybe this boat won't sink into the lake. Is it growing old or costume gold you use to medicate?
